Why have a fete?
Amport Church Fete (as it used to be called) has been held over at least the last 40 years to raise money for the Church. Nowadays, our small village needs to raise in the order of £30,000 a year to keep going, in addition to any money for repairs and renovations. This takes a considerable effort and the fete has always been a key part of our fundraising and recently has raised about £4,000 a year.
Over the last four years the School has also benefited, to help with the cost of building a new classroom. Both of these are the fundamental institutions of any village and appreciate all the help and support they can get.
Equally, the fete is a chance for villagers and those connected with the village to come to the Green, to pause and share time with new neighbours, old acquaintances, and friends. We are all busy these days. We rarely have the opportunity to stop and chat to those who live around us.
Can you help?
